Mark flew for 20 years as a KC-135 Boom Operator and has been involved in the aviation industry for more than 40 years. He earned his pilot certificate in the early 1990s, and has logged nearly 2000 hours in various General Aviation aircraft. He finished building a Lancair Legacy in 2019, and has since logged over 500 hours in it. Mark became a flight instructor primarily because his grandchildren expressed interest in learning to fly. Flight instruction is a passion for Mark, not a stepping stone to an airline job.
