Served two years at the US Air Force Academy early on. A medical event sent me on a trajectory out of the service and to a Ph.D. in Ancient Mesopotamian History at the University of Chicago. Taught as a college professor for 15 years. I earned my private pilot's license in the 90s but didn't fly after entering grad school. Have been flying again for 5 years and recently decided to do aviation full-time. I have experience in Cessnas, Pipers, Diamonds, and Vans RVs.
I love both teaching and flying. I emphasize safety, skills, and judgment.
